  • "Samson", by Regina Spektor, from USA, in 2002

  • "Sweet Dreams", by Eurythmics, from England, in 1994
  • "Teardrop", by Massive Attack, from England, in 1998

  • "Vogue", by Madonna, from USA, in 1990
  • "What's Up", by Four Non Blondes, from USA, in 1993

Incidental fact: Waifs singer was on Spicks and Specks recently where she admitted to only having spent 2 days in London. Also, go watch the actual video clip for Teardrop if you haven't already. And Four Non Blondes - love the hat, still! Janis Joplin, how we miss you.

  1. I cannot express how much I hate 4 Non Blondes.

But it's great to see Madonna, PJ, Massive Attack and Regina Spektor all up there!

  2. "Sweet Dreams" came out in 1983 and Eurhythmics are from Scotland, though technically both England and Scotland are one nation: the United Kingdom of Britain and... yeah.

It's funny how people disregard "Teardrop" as being by a female artist in the jjj hottest 100 of all time. Well not funny... the point is, it's in there and it's here. So, if it is by a female artist (Cocteau Twins vocalist guest singing for male group Massive Attack), then the jjj 100 did have at least one female artist/singer. Or it isn't by a female artist as she was just a guest vocalist and therefore the song shouldn't be included here. Either way, I love the song and think it is beautiful.

  3. Four Non-Blondes! Oh, the memories. Linda Perry is a song writing and producing genius: she's penned hits for Christina Aguilera, Pink, Gwen Stefani and Jewel. Oh, and some guys too.
